Thomas Fuchs-Buder, MD, PhD

Anesthesia | Professor in Anesthesia | Principal Investigator

Thomas Fuchs-Buder, MD, PhD, is a professor of anesthesia and head of the Pre-anaesthetic Clinic and Ambulatory Anaesthesia at Brabois University Hospital in Nancy, France. He previously served as a vice chairman of the Department of Anesthesia and clinical Care at the University Hospital of Saarland in Homburg, Germany

Prof. Fuchs-Buder studied medicine in Geissen, Germany, and Geneva, Switzerland, and earned his medical degree at the Justus-Liebig University in Giessen. He completed his doctoral thesis at the University of Geneva and continued his training in anaesthesia and critical care at the Geneva University Hospital.

Prof. Fuchs-Buder is co-editor of the European Journal of Anaesthesiology and guest editor of Current Opinion in Anaesthesia. His research interests include the pharmacology and physiology of neuromuscular transmission, with a recent focus in neuromuscular transmission monitoring.

Michiel C. Warlé, MD, PhD, FEBVS

Michiel C. Warlé is vascular- and transplant surgeon at the Radboud University Medical Center in Nijmegen, the Netherlands since 2010. He obtained his doctorate in Medicine at the Erasmus Medical Center Rotterdam in 2004 after studying the role of cytokine gene polymorphisms in liver transplantation.

Currently he is leading a research group focusing on perioperative immunology and low-impact laparoscopy, which includes low-pressure pneumoperitoneum facilitated by deep neuromuscular blockade. Michiel is a frequent speaker at national and international meetings sharing his expertise on these topics.
